Previous Badwater Crewing:
Previous Badwater Clinic Memorial Day Weekend Training Clinic 2000 and 2001 - In 2000 I covered 45 miles of the course with much difficulty because of not being used to the heat. In 2001 I managed 72 miles of the course as I was much better prepared having run and trained on the course before.

Badwater Prediction:

Between 40 and 50 hours, going by my previous times in 2000 and 200l.

Weird Experience:

In the 2000 Badwater Race, after running for almost 44 hours, I didn't recognize my pacer as he rejoined my on the Portal Road for the final 2 miles, and asked who he was to my crew.

I also collapsed in the bathrooms at the campground after the race, in 2000, thinking there was a bench to sit on when there was nothing of the sort, but a sewer cover. Thanks to my helpful crew I made it out of the bathroom before I went down!

Challenge:

My first Western States 100 miler in 1988 was the most memorable and challenging as I was living in the Midwest and didn't know what to expect. I was told by a friend that I was lucky to finish under the 30 hour cut-off, but he had confidence that I would finish the 100 miles!

Why:

A challenge of sort, an to meet the other crazies that do this event from around the world.

I like the runners it attracts, very different from your ordinary racers, as they are very diversifed, and laid back type of people, easy to talk to and definitely Type B!

Why badwater:

I like the desert, heat, and all the challenges it brings with it and each time hope to do a little better, although my goal is always to finish and have a good time, and to keep my crew still talking in the end!

Other Exp.:

Several triathons, and biathlons, but nothing to significant to write home about, as I always finished back in the pack with the younguns!
