Badwater Prediction:

Under 40 hours. I was on course to finish in under 35 Hours in 2000 until dreaded crippling blisters hit both feet at 100 miles and I have gained much experience in multi-day continious effort events since Badwater 2000.

Weird Experience:

There are many, I always seem to holucinate during a 2 hour period on ultra races spanning over 24 hours continious effort, although they are mild once I was paranoid of falling off the path as though there was a sheer precipise either side... which there wasn't.

Challenge:

Badwater Ultra 2000. My feet were in agony after the 100 mile point and it was a very long hard walk with 2 very badly blistered feet to finish the course.

Why:

The feeling of achievement after crossing the finish line. Also the people involved are always very friendly and I love the freedom and scenery of multiday mountain marathons and trail races.

Why badwater:

To prove I can finish the race in a much faster time with or without blisters... and to obtain another Buckle as it would be nice to have more than one belt..!! After a virtually no running last year due to restrictions in UK and Ireland I relied on swimming as a main form of daily exercise and consequently competed in a few Ultra distance Triathlons. This year I am planning to concentrate on my running although I will still be entering one or 2 Ultra Ironman Triathlons as they are very demanding and exillerating to finish. Entering Badwater 2002 will enable me to motivate and focus my training over the coming months.
