Distances:

50k-High Desert Ultra, Ridgecrest, CA 1997 - 2001 6:15-6:36 towards the back 1/3 of finishers. This was my first 50Km. I thought what the heck did I let them (Ridgecrest Over The Hill Track Club (OTHTC)) talk me into.It was all desert, runable desert trails and dirt roads.

Baldy Peaks, Hills above Ontario, CA, 2000-2001 10:15-10:22 way back. Finishing within the 12 hr. time limit. This was my first grueling Mountain trail run. Bull Dog, Malibu, CA, 2001, 7:20's. Meet up with some great runners on the course, had blast. San Gabriel 50K, 2000, way back can't remember how slow I was, still trying to figure out how I got sucked into running by the OTHTC. Holcomb 50 1999, buckled but time wasn't a thing to remember!

Bishop 50k, 2001, 7:20's; 1999, 7:58, great mountain terrian, can get very hot so bring lots of water!

I just make sure I finish, I think they stop putting places down at my pace!!!

50mi-Bishop 50, 2000, 14 hrs last place but didn't quit and didn't give up. I did learn a lot about blisters at this race, doctors and all. Read a book on foot wrapping and blister prevention. Four American River 50's 1998 - 2001 11:28 to 12:28 close to last group of finsihers... Still trying to figure out why I keep doing this one, something always draws you back.

Badwater Prediction:

If selected, I've set a prediction of 44 to 46 hours based on previously run races and my predictable pace while hiking the hills and "shuffling" along many miles of the above courses. I've never been very fast but usually pretty steady...

Weird Experience:

Running Angeles Crest, 2001, late into the night, seeing little eyes staring at you and hearing strange things up off the edge of the course. and Having your pacer tell you if it is anything bad, all I have to do is out run you...

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Challenge:

I would say running Angeles Crest for the first time last year starting early and running throughout the day, into the evening and seeing the sun rise for the second time and realizing this is what it is all about. Running and running without sleep! Makes us stronger for races like Badwater!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Why:

I run the ultras for the self accomplishments, to push myself, to learn more about myself, the ephuroic rush and to help other runners based on my experiences. I enjoy meeting new friends out on the trails. The sensational views many people will never see are such a rush, especially with the ones with the sun rising and setting.

Why badwater:

I've raced motorcycles, Barstow to Vegas, in the So.California desert, down in Mexico, and on many motocross courses, raced mtn bikes from Mammoth to Big Bear, but nothing compares to the enjoyment of running. I would like to be part of the history and experience the sensations while completing the Badwater course.

I enjoy pushing myself beyond the anticpated limits to achieve the positive end results!
