Badwater Prediction:

Under 40 hours. Reviewing my average minute per mile time for the longer distance races & training runs I have done and adding on 2 or 3 minutes per mile to take account of heat and the altitude variations, I aim to be at Whitney portals in under 40 hours.

Weird Experience:

Running a local 80 mile trail. At about 4 o'clock in the morning I was feling very low, physically & mentally, when I thought I saw 3 ostrich (which are certainly not indigenous to the UK). Thinking it was a hallucination, thus confirming to me my physical & mental state, I plodded on. It was only a few days later reading the local newspaper that I learned of an entrepreneurial farmer who had bought a number of ostrich to farm for their meat, and had lost some. The moral of the story - those pink elephants you see may be real !!

Challenge:

Wolds Way trail 2000 - 80 mile. Ran it on my own, furthest I had ran, took a lot of determination, very satisfying.

Why:

Upon my death-bed if I were able to carve my own gravestone I'd like to think I could write - "He did" and not have to carve "I wish I had"

Why badwater:

The challenge of the unknown.
