Badwater Prediction:

Between 40 and 50 hours. I anticipate this time frame based on my 24 hour racing experiences. I tend to feel stronger as the hours go on and almost always complete the goals which I establish. Although I have not run Badwater, I do believe I will successfully complete this race under 48 hours.

Weird Experience:

In 1994 I ran 26.2 miles to work, worked all day as an assistant high school principal, and then ran 26.2 miles back home. I did this to prove to myself that it could be done. Although I did not consider this "weird," there were plenty of people who did!

Challenge:

In 2001 and 1998, a fellow ultra runner and I ran the 150 mile distance across the state of Indiana via U.S. Highway 40. We did these runs during July when temperatures were the hottest. Aside from the challenge of running the miles, we were equally challenged by moving our two cars back and forth along the course, finding time to eat and looking for interesting places to sleep along the route.

Why:

Because I have not found anything else that gives me such a personal feeling of accomplishment.

Why badwater:

I love heat, long miles and a new challenge. How can you top Badwater for all three!?
