Previous Badwater Racing Experience:
Previous Badwater Crewing Experience: 1998 Robert Thurber 30 miles. Take care of the feet. Robert experienced terrible blister. 2002 Anita Fromm paced 50 miles and learned more about blister, dehydration dealing with the heat etc.
Previous Badwater Clinic Experience: 1998, ran both days, total miles 60. That was my first year of dealing with Death Valley and I learned alot about surviving, running on the road in the valley, heat, blisters, drinking enough, nurishments etc. 1999, ran both days about 60 miles, learned more about the weqather conditions, caring for blisters, dealing with a sick runner (upset stomach). 2001, ran 48 miles, and continued to learn how to deal with race conditions and problems. 2002, ran 40 miles attended Denise's blister clinic and learned to wrap feet.

My Badwater Finishing Prediction:

I anticipate finishing in 50 hours. I have covered 90 miles in 26.5 hours at Heartland 100 miler in 2002. I ran 80 miles at AC 100 miler in 18 hours in 1998. My 50 mile races time indicate that I can coverthe distance in necessary time.

My Weirdest Experience:

My weirdest experience was the the Heartland 100 miler in Kansas, october or 2002. During the night running alone across the pasture lands amoung the cattle. I encountered a pack of coyotes that followed me for 10 miles. It was very black out and watching out for cattle and cattle crap was very challanging.

My Most Challenging Race Experience:

AC 100 Miler, 1998. I was running strong when I reached the 75 mile aid station at 3 am. Left the station and out about 4 miles I should have turned left and gone up Mt. Wilson, I "missed" the turn and continued straight ahead only to discover a little later that I was not on the right trail, dealing with the unfortunate situation and getting back to the 75 mile aid station was very challengin

WhyI Run Ultras:

I love to run long distance and have for 10 years. I have made a great number of Ultra friend and love to run with them. I also need to exercise "alot" due to a colesterol problem. The health aspect to running is very much a part of my life.

Why I want a slot on the start line of the 2003 Badwater Ultramarathon:

I have been competing for a number of year and am looking forward to completing a long, enduring, ultra race. As I have been apart of the Badwater race (as pacer and clinic participant) for the past 5 year I feel its time I completed the race myself.
