My Most Challenging Race Experience:

MARATHON DES SABLES 1999
2nd to 12th April 1999
- Doing trainings with a backpack up to 8kg.
- Prepare your body and mind to handle a daily kcal limit of 2700kcal during a 6 day exercise.(Minimum of 2000kcal per day.)
- The challenge to create your own mealplan in order to perform the best possible food supply for your body.
- Dealing the heat and cold at the same "time."
- Realizing how "fragile" human being can be...!
- Already after 1 day you recognize how precious WATER can be...!

Why I Run Ultras:

Running ULTRAS is more than muscular strength.
Running ULTRAS is a very special experience.
This experience is TOTAL.
It's a journey to the PHYSICAL limits - and PSYCHICAL adventure.
It's a challenge against your own "INDOLENCE!"

Why I want a slot on the start line of the 2003 Badwater Ultramarathon:

Racing BADWATER simply means "get to know yourself" in an extreme and beautiful place...! Desert, vast valley floor, harshly sculpted mountains, garish colors, superbly adapted plants and animals - all are visible expressions of geologic time reckoned in billions of years. The driest, hottest climate imaginable, the infrequent rains - this is Death Valley, an immense, wild land that man has never tamed.
