Previous Badwater Racing Experience:
Previous Badwater Crewing Experience: Crew member/pacer for Steven Silver in 2001 and crew chief/pacer for same in 2002. Estimated milage run of about 50 miles each year. I learned that Badwater is the type of ultra I like. Road/hot/and straight. Also there aren't any whiners out on the course.
Previous Badwater Clinic Experience:

My Badwater Finishing Prediction:

Based on my recent 100 mi split of 19:31 hr on the track(and 100 mi track split of 18:36 in 2000) and having seen the conditions at BW during the last 2 years, I anticipate finishing in under 40 hours. I'll also have 6-time BW finisher (Steven Silver) as my crew chief. And experience counts for alot.

My Weirdest Experience:

I guess, having our runner and entire crew attacked by rouge misquitoes at the bridge just past Dolomite slant during the 2001 year BW. Who would of expected that. Talk about weapons of mass destruction....

My Most Challenging Race Experience:

Trying to get to 200 mi on a 48 hr run. I came up short in 2000 so I'll just have to keep at it until I get it right. Unlike many trail runners who hate the track I find it challenging and rewarding. And I don't have to be running in some pristine woodland setting to get motivated.

Why I Run Ultras:

To reach for my personal limits. That, and I got tired of having to hang aroung road racers and tri-geeks
all of the time.

Why I want a slot on the start line of the 2003 Badwater Ultramarathon:

Badwater represents the very top-level of toughness and guts in ultrarunning. I don't like to mention badwater to non-ultrarunners, because they think your some kind of lunatic. Those that have finished, or at least seen it, know better.

My Other Ultrasport Experience:

I competed in triathlons/duathlons for about 5 years at distances ranging from sprint Tri's to 1/2 Ironmans. Highlights include 2 finishes at Buffalo Springs Lake half in 1997 and 1999.(I can't recall my exact places or times) It's hot in Lubbock during June... but not as hot as Death Valley in July.
