My Badwater Finishing Prediction:

Under 40 hours: Experience. Last year just finishing first full year as an ultra-runner. Also 2002 Badwater 135 was my first ever Adventure race. Also adding significant Crew changes. Last year's Badwater 135 finish of 43:26, was too comfortable.

My Weirdest Experience:

Belle Isle Ultras-50 miler, 11/10/02. Knew I could win, yes outright as well over the men. But one thing no one could have predicted there, the weather. That is how I won. The weather, people just dropped out even after just 4 miles on this cross-country ultra course. The wind, rain and mud and such I guess was very uncomfortable. What blew my mind is I always thought everyone thought like I did. I never thought any ultra guy would drop out because of weather, but it happened. And quite nicely, I was proved wrong with my overall win that day.

My Most Challenging Race Experience:

All my ultras have incredible challenges for me. My 24 hour races, probably. I run all out. I know what I want from them. And I will not be deterred, unless I see that the goal is on that day physically just not ripe for my picking such as: something physically goes wrong that I know could truly harm my health. I'd rather live to run and race another day and reach my goal than destroy the gift that God has given me. "To sacrifice the gift, is to let God down." I'm not in that business.

Why I want a slot on the start line of the 2003 Badwater Ultramarathon:

To run it smarter and faster this year. To win.

My Other Ultrasport Experience:
