Jim Ingalls: Onward Bound
Frank (Jim) Ingalls, 60, of Wichita Falls, Texas, is moving along beautifully on the climb outside of Panamint Springs. Like many of the other racers, he had a really rough day yesterday. He gained 12 pounds during the day and had to stop and could not continue on until he lost at least half of that amount. Weight gain like that during the heat of the race can signify some serious problems and he needed to be sure to get everything in check before continuing on. Jim is a Human Resources Manager and feels that it is a complete honor to compete in Badwater. His first goal this year is to be the first finisher in the 60-year-old category. At 1:37 this afternoon, I chatted with his crew and watched Jim race for a bit. He is looking excellent and is focused on finishing.
