AdventureCORPS presents the 2023 Badwater 135: July 4-6

The 2023 race went exceptionally well and was particularly exciting and historic in many ways this year:

– Ashley Paulson, age 41, broke her own women’s course record with the second fastest time ever on the course, becoming the first woman since Pam Reed in 2002 and 2003 to win the race overall. (Pam Reed also competed this year, recording her 12th finish, and first time back since 2015!)

– Kaylee Frederick, age 18, became our youngest ever finisher and set the new 10-19 women’s age group record.

– Linda Quirk, age 70, became our oldest female finisher ever and set the new 70-79 women’s age group record.

– David Jones, age 71, became our oldest male official finisher from the 48-hour time limit era (2011 to the present.)

– Simen Holvik, age 46, set our new Mens’ 40-49 age group record and became the first Norwegian to finish the race.

– Aaron Hale, age 45 and a US Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal veteran, became the first blind and deaf finisher to compete the race.

– We had a record number of rookie entrants (66), a record number of nationalities represented (26), and a record number of women (40.)

– We also had our first ever women representing India (Sonia Ahuja), Israel (Nina Raver Shapira), and Romania (Cristina Vasilache.)
